Yes, I think the 2.3L HOT is tough on oil also; there have been reports here of engine problems due to 10K OCIs using the SAAB semi-syn/syn blend.
Same ~4 liter oil capacity. In the 9-5, I find that 4 quarts brings it up to very-very-close-to-full, while 4.2 quarts makes it slightly overfull. I suppose 4.1 quarts is just about right... but I didn't feel like cracking open a new bottle just for 0.1 qt :-)
I was tempted to use one of my AC Delco Ultraguard Gold oil filters already (I have a bunch of normal sized ones, and 2 or 3 oversized ones) but I installed a SAAB filter for now so that I can make a better comparison between the German Castrol and the M1 0W-40.
