Just a status update on my StarTAC/OnStar/Triad project. I have been in close (and repeated) contact with the Triad and Cellport people (who make an HF kit that ostensibly has a StarTAC mute line). Based upon that, I have worked out the pre-wiring, etc., for my project. I have a photo of the completed wiring harness at http://www.marlowe.cc/project.jpg if you want to take a look.

I have found a local installer who is looking over the Triad installation instructions this weekend, so hopefully one day this week I can have him do the work to install.

My only problem remains the microphone -- I certainly can use an external mic and mount it next to the Saab mic, but I haven't given up completely on some integration solution that leaves the mic working with OnStar as well.

A (hopefully) final report will be forthcoming later this week. It is a lot of work getting the whole thing pre-wired. Perhaps I can be arm-twisted into doing this for others if I get the thing working correctly, but you'll have to find your own installer.

And they said it couldn't be done.... (getting just a littke cocky now)
