Clutch slave cylinder $760 and throttle body $500. The estimates for the head gasket is $900 and for the climate control problem $1400. I already retorqued the head per specifications and it did not help. Owned car for about 18 months from 60k miles to 78k presently. $3500 so far. I am even considering keeping the car again today because I do not feel like taking a bullet with resale value.
I will give a comparison to other cars I have owned.
'85 Nissan 200SX, owned from '88 (50k mi) to '94 (130k mi). Unscheduled maintenance was power steering line $150 and fuel injectors $750.
'85 Toyota Pickup, owned from '91 (27k) to '00 (98k). Unscheduled maintenace: muffler $150, exhaust gasket $100, clutch - uvjoint - rear seal $900.
'88 Acura Integra, owned from '94 (50k mi) to '01 (132k). Unscheduled maintenance: rear wiper wiring $100, rear brake calipers $950.
These cars are of course not as nice as the Saab, but for goodness sake.... By the way, I think you have given some very good advice in the past to me and others that I have truly appreciated. Thanks.
If you would like to help some more. The new problem sounds like the tires are way out of balance, but the car shows very little sign of vibration. I got new Sumitomos three weeks ago. Would you know if it is the tires or some other problem?
