I feel your pain. I had a 9000 as well, and that was a disaster. I was spending $2000 a year just on maintenance. It seemed like everything failed on it, and when the engine blew up at 104K miles, I sold it for parts. Argggg!!!!
So I was very shy about buying another Saab. But I find the 9-5 to be a *much* better car than the 9000. The engine problems (timing chain) has been taken care of, and the quality is much better, IMHO.
As for the head gasket, if it is just leaking oil, you might be able to run it forever without a problem. It is when it leaks coolant that you can have a very big problem. As for the ACC, if it is showing code #8, it seems like a *lot* of 9-5s do this (mine does as well), but I don't see any problem with the system... it warms me up, cools me down, and defrosts properly, so I am ignoring it.
As for the tire problem, is it a noise problem? Typically, an unbalanced wheel will make the steering wheel shake. An out of alignment car will cause the tires to wear unevenly (the inside might wear down a lot but the outer will show no signs of wear). Also, an out of true (bent) wheel can cause some shimmy in the suspension.
