for good tips. I also found them very informative to talk with, give them a car and see what they suggest for your bird/dird scratches.
Before you wax the car, check the date of manufacturing(inside the door jam with the 99 9-5's). Saab says to wait at least 6 months(I know that it is hard to do:)), but you're probably safe after four or so... Zaino suggest that you use a dish washer detergent for the first wax, to cut all grease. I found Dawn worked good for me... The cost first seemed high for all of the suggested Zaino goodies. But, if you factor in $35K plus for a car, less then $100 to set yourself up is not too out of line... For the first wax job, plan on long process (Friday night wash and first coat - to Sunday afternoon for me). After that the waxes are real quick. I agree with most of the postings, and also caution to use light water pressure. High water pressure will grind the dirt into the paint. I also like the California Water Blade. Wax the wheels, and then dry soft brush the dreaded brake powder in between washings. I usually wash my car every two weeks, and dry brush the wheels once in between...
Enjoy your car!!
