They had just recently bought a brand new BMW 745 and were traveling down the 401 when an axle fell off a truck in front of them. Before they could react they drove over it. It tore the oil pan off and destroyed virtually everything under the car. The engine seized, the tranny was shot, etc. I believe they ended up with a new car and they still have the axle in their back yard for some reason.
Another story was a wood pallet in the right lane of the 417 in Ottawa. I thankfully had just changed lanes moments before and saw a Camry swerve and I look over and see the pallet, and then along the shoulder was 6 cars with different levels of damage. I guess they learnt a lesson about following to closely that day.
