That definitely looks nice. I love these cars in black (I'm biased, my '99 is black/black). I really think you'll enjoy the 5-speed, especially since you sound like an enthusiast. That Mustang and Dune Buggy sound like two interesting automobiles to pilot. If you end up w/ the 9-5, please let us know if you ever autocross it. I've always wondered how our cars would do (even though they have a 62/38 weight distribution).
Your real interest in a new car comes out. First, you're coming out of an SVT Contour...a fun FWD auto that it sounds like you've enjoyed. To me, that says that you don't mind having FWD. You also said you wanted something w/ more torque...the Aero will definitely give that to you. The engineering that Saab has put into the 2.3L is pretty amazing if you ask me. They are a lot of fun to drive w/ lots of torque down low, and still get incredible gas mileage in a relatively large car. Impressive. Lastly, you said that you want something to take trips in that's more comfortable and roomy. The 9-5 fits both of those criteria, whereas the IS300 really doesn't (space-wise it's comperable to the SVT Contour, I believe). Just my $.02. (I did intern at a Saab dealership as a sales and leasing consultant in the Pittsburgh, PA area for two summers. Although, I've been picking out cars for my parents and friends parents for years :) ). Good luck and let us know what you decide!
