I have the TAP-3F in my 9-5. I have noticed a very slight signal improvement when using it. I bought and returned several other ants before keeping the TAP-3F.

Most of the other units I tried caused a signal degridation. The other units were mostly ones that had an internal and external piece. Apparently the units assume a capacitance for the average thickness piece of window glass. In order to keep interior temps from rising due to sun load the 9-5 window glass is impregnated with another material. This causes an different capacitance that makes this type of ant virtually useless.

The key to success is to use an ant that does not have a part on either side of the glass and to keep the cable as short as possible with the minimum number of connections. The TAP-3F does claim a signal improvement. It claims a 2.15 dB improvement. It does not mention at what frequency so I would hope that it is the lesser of the two bands improvements, rather than the higher. The Wilson claims a similar benifit on one band and a greater benifit on the other. Again I do not know if it is actually better than the TAP-3F or if the TAP-3f is just quoting the lower of the two gains. If the wilson unit can be mounted without using any adapters it might be worth a try. Otherwise I would go with the TAP-3F.

I have it mounted in the rear window on the drivers side. I checked and Jim UHL still has a few pictures of my install on his website. Slides 11 and 12 show the ant mounting.
