Oh yes, I do believe it. It (the 9-5) is much quieter than my 9kT was, and much better behaved on bad roads--that IRS really comes through in maintaining the car's composure.
My point about the stock tires is that they mask the car's true capabilities a bit. It can be even better! I'm halfway to a plus 1 tire-wheel upgrade, as I'm presently shopping for tires for a set of 17" Aero wheels. I'm expecting a significant increase in cornering grip and probably a decrease in ride noise as the result.
