$1000 boot light repair ???

I have been a Saab fan for a long time. I remained loyal even when my new 9-5 stalled 3 times in the first 3 years (the first within 6 mths). I had problems with the gearbox, battery, engine, horn etc etc. But hey, no sweat.
But, yesterday I sent my 9-5 to the workshop to fix what I thought was simply a blown bulb in the boot and THE AGENT TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ME S$1,000 TO FIX IT. (US$1 is about 1.8 Singapore $). The bulb and the wiring was ok. But apparently, the detection of boot open/close was controlled by the immobilizer module called "TWICE", which was faulty. And this electronic gadget cost S$1,000. Labour not included yet.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve my problem? There are not many Saabs in my country (Singapore) and the agent here is not exactly (in my opinion) as knowledgeable as those in the US.
And, today while driving to Malaysia, my 9-5 suddenly lost power! It was crazy. Each time I stepped on the gas, I seemed to be braking the car. I called the Saab emergency assist and the fault was traced to a loose rubber hose connection to the turbo by-pass (or something like that).
I think I will have to change the name of my site to Sadly Saab...
