Just drove a similar loaner for 24 hours. My initial impressions were same as yours. The car does seem fast off the line. It's fast, tight, and turns on a dime. I was also impressed with the interior.
After 24 hours, my initial impressions had changed. Yes it's fast off the line, but I think the overall impression of speed is heightened by the significant road noise. The ride is much busier than the 9-5. When I got back into my 9-5 V6, I realized that the 9-5 was actually significantly faster, but it's quieter & smoother. Also, the controls in the 9-3 are a bit more difficult to navigate overall - especially the stereo, which doesn't hold a candle to the HK. I really like the 9-5 controls better. Still, it's a fun car to drive - handles well and has great brakes.
Anyways, it's slower than the V6, and NO WAY it's faster than an Aero!
