from your SPG was based on conventional oil. It called for 10W30 as the basic recommendation, with 15W40 for hot climates (undefined) and 5W30 for winter use, but only for "Synthetic or semi-synthetic" (now "semi-synthetic is more properly called synthetic blend ... semi synthetic is like calling a room with 20 women, some of which are pregnant, "half pregnant"). Whatever API grade was highest at the time the manual was written was the recommended grade. This was the recommendation up through the 1999 model year. Starting with the 2000 model year, the recommendation was changed to ACEA A3/B3, with 5W40 or 0W40 being suggested. This kind of oil is suitable for any Turbo Saab. Non turbo cars, with less load in the bearings can use XW-30 as well.
