Do your Internet research; places like roberti.com, andrewsofprinceton.com, saabway.com are all site sponsors and have large inventories. You will be able to get a good idea of 'going rate'.

Dealer prices - well, some dealers just have higher prices, depends on their policies. We have one dealer here in town (not Saab, another Swede) who gives top tradeins. However, they also sell new vehicles at list (no competition in 500 miles) and inflate the prices at their used car lot. I have seen them sit on a used vehicle for two years waiting to get their price.

Book value - well, which book do you want to use? The one that shows the low values (this is the one the dealers use to show you how little your trade is worth) or the one with high values (this is the one the dealers use to show you how good a deal you're getting when buying a vehicle). Mostly fiction.

I'm also looking for a 2k1 Wagon, and figure about $17-19k is the going rate for one with remaining warranty depending on options and mileage.
