I notice that the owners manual that came with my Saab 9-5 Aero and stereo instructions both say not to use any recordable CD menium in the CD player or 6 disk trunk mounted changer if you have one. It claims these can damage the cd player. I find this interesting since I have never heard of people having problems with CD-R or CDRW play in their other car CD players or home systems.
Is there really a concern here? Is the Saab CD player delicate in some way that other CD players are not, or has Saab just jumped on the bandwagon of selling out to the record industry. I want to decode some MP3s, write them to a CDRW and play them on my Aero's CD player but I hate to think that Saab has been deputized by the recording industry to ward off copyright infringement by making false claims of incompatiblity. What's the deal here?
