Checked:
1) Cleaned throttle: still feel the random hesitation/studder. Also notice that if I rev to 2-3k standing still, the engine hesitates just a tiny (not like the issue I have when at a go, but smallish - can see the tach sputter and feel engine sputter a tiny bit - noticeable).
2) Dumped in a bottle of Techron.
NOTE: It was AFTER 1) and 2) that I got the CEL!!!
3) Replaced DI cassette (found one for $319... phew!) and nothing, so put the old back in.
Seeing as how I don't know how to check/read the CEL, I dropped the car off at dealer yesterday.
I read some of you recent suggestions:
1) I like the ABS idea and braking applied momentarily, because it FEELS like a quick stab to the brake. Or like when you stall the car and get the JERK feel of the clutch grabbing the flexplate.
2) The clutch suggestion was my first, but I couldn't see how it could be related given the random circumstances, etc. It seemed like such an electronic glitch. I will check again and also check fluids. I've always driven stick shifts and NEVER once had to replace a clutch (91 Civic Si was sold with ~260k miles and original clutch and 96 Z24 was given away with ~230k miles and original clutch... all it ever required was clutch master cylinder fluid fills).
Appreciate the help!
