Be Brave!!! It can be a DIY project with scraped knuckles and requisite contortions and cursing. I stubbornly went the cheapest route (US$125 ) and actually found the necessary internal turbo rebuild parts, but it took some searching and 3 weeks of weekends and after hours wrenching(couldn't give up my day job..!!) It seems that the Garrett GT17 turbo is still a "captured" unit, meaning Saab would rather you buy the entire unit for US$500-700 , instead of making the rebuild parts readily known and available. As such, do a search on this website for "turbo" and advice on the reinstallation of the remanufactured unit. You do not need to take out the radiator, although any extra work room is a plus. Disconnect and reconnect of the oil and water lines is challenging. Best of luck...it's all worth it once you can again get back to smoke free seat of the pants turbo power!!!
