The Saab information center should get informed. Synthetic was not a "requirement" until around 2002. I'd fax them the page from your owner's manual, along with all receipts and your oil change records. Then really get loud. I'd even consider a lawsuit in small claims... this is easy to do yourself (at least in the US), and would get their attention.
I had a 9000CS whose timing chain broke at 104K miles. Saab admitted that the chains were of "less than acceptable quality, and that the supplier had been changed", but gave me no help anyway. They said that "the car is considered a high mileage car with no value, and we cannot help you". They had the opinion that the car was basically junk, even though it was in perfect condition. I sold it to someone whose car had been totaled but whose engine was intact and walked away very disappointed.
