Just last night, I was doing about 40 in 5th on a nice stretch of the Baltimore Washington Parkway and needed some extra power to escape an idiotic driver who was making wild manuevers in a Mazda 626. Definitely experienced some lag. 3rd gear is where the real fun/power is. And yes, when cruising at highways speeds, 5th gear is very fine.
