Bought my 99MY 9-5SW in mid-Feb of this year; picked up a DI cassette at my local dealer (who gave me a large discount) before going on a long trip with my wife and infant twin boys. Also have a crank position sensor spare.

Do I expect to use it? Well, I have the service history for the car, which had 72000 km on it, and it hasn`t been replaced yet.

I am used to having the critical (go - no go) parts in my car, from having lived in inaccessible regions of Canada like Jonquiere, and travelling across remote parks like the Reserve des Laurentides. When I had an old Plymouth, it was the ceramic resistor; when I had an old Buick, it was the fan belts and fluids.

Hell, I used to keep a bicycle in the trunk of my car so at least I could keep moving. In comparison to the bike, the DI cassette doesn`t take up that much room in the back of the wagon. I do like the idea that I can drop it in and get somewhere. So even though I am in Toronto and only minutes away from a dealer, the peace of mind is worth it.

I plan to follow Ian Glenday`s lead, and replace it as a preventive measure some time in the future, say 130 000 km (appr 80 000 miles).

Regards,
CrNiFe
