The iTrip works best when positioned high in the wagon. I have an iPod Mini with one, and either put it in the dash cupholder or clip it to the visor. The higher the better....
I leave mine on 87.9 around Boston...haven't had too many issues. I set the volume on the iPod at about 80% and it sounds pretty good...except for the occasional "bripp bripp bripp" noise that it makes...I assume it's due to cell phones or cell phone towers....
I WILL say however that I used it in a '98 Volvo V70R wagon a couple of weeks ago, and the reception was much better in that car....
Cheers,
Paul H.
