Here's the reason to go with the Aero:
"The rate this thing goes in second gear from 40 to 70 miles per hour is just sensational. For overtaking a lorry, never mind a 5-series BMW, this will do it quicker than a Porsche 911 turbo." -- Top Gear (BBC)
Oh yeah, not to mention 33 MPG, best in class safety rating, superior comfort and ergonomics, exclusivity, price, cargo space, room for passengers in back.... The list goes on and on.
As for a 9-5 Aero vs a Passat, it's not even a contest unless you are running from a dead stop. The Passat may actually feel quicker, but that's because the Aero is so stable and composed--try driving it at 110 MPH and you'll see what I'm taking about. It feels like 70 MPH does in a Passat.
Good luck with your choice!
