For you to driveup to MA to get your oil changed then. How in the world can an independent charge $200 for that? The answer to part of your question is that this guy is really a mechanic. In his spare time he is a crew chief for a NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle team and I think it is just in his blood to do the job right.I do not know how much his cost is in materials, but he also knows that if he treats his regular customers right on normal routine services like this, they will be back for the more involved services and not shopping around( his prices for normal services are equally reasonable though) They make more on tings like major overhauls, clutches, suspension work etc. I'm guessing they do not make more than $10 on that oil and filter job. Again, this is not a franchised dealer, but an independent. The shop ,MVSC in MEthuen MA, has a terrific reputation up here, and I doubt that you will find anyone on this board who uses them to say anything different than this.
