And when I had sticks, thats the way I drove them as well , but in general, lifting off the gas in anticipation of the need to slow down is always a better way to save wear and tear on your brakes and driveline as long as it is safe to do so. In heavily populated and high traffic areas, you just cnnot lift off the gas a nd slow down at whatever pace you want.In these cases thugh,you can use the driveline to help slow yourself down and avoid using the brakes as hard as would otherwise be needed.
