My car has been fine, zero oil consumption (99 9-5 SE V6). I agree with the other posts that seem to indicate "enough is enough"
My co-worker had a similar experience with his car, manufacturered by a famous German auto maker, (not BMW but the car manufacturer does have a "W" in their name). He had his car serviced at the dealer, they forgot to tighten the oil filter, the oil leaked, the engine was damaged and "oh by the way, we want to do a oil consumption test..." was the result of poor service from the dearer.
Well, each time, he had to wait over an hour to get it checked plus the time to add the oil, then reschedule, etc, etc.
Fast forward, at some point, the oil level was just barely in limits, presto his warranty repair was denied.
My advice (for what it's worth), they are trying to wait you out, wear you down, if you know what I mean. Unless there is evidence tape on the dip stick, I would check it before hand and would make darn well sure the oil was low.
Good luck
