Yes. My Saab 9-5, with about 47,300 mile son it recently suffered a timing belt disaster, which will result in engine replacfement. There was no advanced warning, except for the opil light going on for about 40-50 seconds. A mechanic very familiar with Saab engines said it looked to be a defect in the timing chain thayt caused it to shatter and shut down the oil pump. The car is off warranlty, so of course Saab USA is denying any responsibility, and even forced me to spend $500-$600 to 'evaluate the damage', even though the first mecvhanic only charged $135 for the same assessment. Now, Saab wants to replace the engine with a used model that has 5,000 more miles, at a materials costs of $6,100 (double the cost quoted by non-Saab mechanics! Oh yes, the Saab district manager has offered to compensate me by awarding a certificate for $1,050 off a new Saab car! What an insult! Needless to say, I plan to file a lawsuit, and would appreciate anyone elses horrot stories as ammunition. My advice: But Saab if it has full warranty, and run for the hills away from all used Saabs. Saab USA should stand buy its products and be acocuntable for any apparent defects.
