"Car Phone" Problem

I have a 1999 9-5 that has the telephone wired into the car system, whereby when the phone rings it mutes the radio (Harmon Kardon), and you can answer the phone hands free. Also, you can make calls hands free with this system. When we had this system installed in 1999 we were told that either Nokia or Ericson phones are compatible. We chose the Nokia phone, model 6160, had it installed with AT&T service, and it has worked with no problems. As I recall, the installation kit was provided by SAAB. The kit and the wiring were all installed by the dealer back in 1999. The dealer no longer does phone installations.
The phone has now died, and no, it is not the battery. Nokia no longer makes a phone that fits into the cradle that is installed in the car. I have contacted AT&T and Verizon and I am being told that they do not have a phone that fits the car system. I am being told that I need to purchase a complete new installation kit (About 300+ dollars) and that it will not work with the car system. They will have to install a separate speaker, new antenna, etc. This is a bummer since the old system has worked so well.
Has anyone had any experience with this type issue. If so, I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance.
