Beaten to death, but . . . newbie PCV Mod questions

Okay, new owner of a '99 SE LPT. Great car, has been well maintained. The one previous owner took European delivery of the car and the first few services performed across the pond. The rest, up to the current 109k miles the car now has, have been performed by local dealer or reputable Saab shop. Stamps in the service book are all there.
The car runs fantastic. Very smooth, nice idle. In the 2 weeks I've owned it, I've noticed no oil consumption or blue smoke at startup. Being the worrisome person I am, it is fitting that right as I am getting comfortable with the car, I come across the whole PCV issue.
I emphasize the car runs great. It is my feeling that 109k miles serves as quite a "break-in / shakedown" period and there are none of the chronic symptoms of a "bad" PCV system. I drive my cars rather conservatively and am a firm believer in changing my own oil every 3k miles.
Question(s): Is there any way to outwardly tell if (or which) PCV mod has been done to my car? Should I leave well enough alone? If it ain't broke, should I "fix" it? If I decide to let it be, are there any checks I should perform on a regular basis (such as every oil change) to make sure problems don't develop?
Whew, that was a lot of typing (and a lot of questions). Any feedback you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
