Well, popped off the plastic cover that covers the oil filler neck. Looked around briefly (it was raining) and discovered:
The latest PCV mod not performed -- small hose still connected to larger hose that connects to valve cover, no hose connected to oil fill tube.
I was pleasantly surprised at the condition (exterior, anyway) of the hoses. Good shape--almost new looking. No deterioration or visible sludge. I plan on looking a little closer this/next weekend.
Never been a big fan of the local dealer, but I went there to maybe get some kind of service history/info on PCV (had service stamps from dealer in booklet). Service advisor flat out refused to give me a printout and only begrudgingly talked to me about the car. He said that the car was in for service 2k miles ago. At that time, the car had a small oil leak and I was told that the PCV hoses were replaced at the request of the owner. I guess I'm just a clueless as I was before. Plan on doing the modification myself the next free Saturday afternoon I get.
Interestingly, the service advisor guy told me as I was leaving that because the car just had a "major" service performed 2k miles ago, the car wasn't even due in for another service for "about another twenty-thousand miles or so". This:
1) was obviously wrong
2) did not agree at all with the oil change sticker--from the same dealer--on the car now. It lists the next service as being due in another 2k miles or so.
3) didn't seem very good for business. I guess he really never wanted to see my car.
It doesn't matter anyway because I do my own service. It did justify why I dislike that dealer.
