Rick, anything on your car that wears, is not covered by the warranty!
Saab brake Rotors are 25mm thick when new, have a minimum machine to spec
of 23.5 mm and a discard spec of 22 mm. the OEM pads are 13mm when new.
by design, the rotors wear as the pads wear. so when the pads are worn out the rotors are usually under the 23.5 min machine to spec and dished! yes you might be able to resurface them and just keep them above the discard spec but the new pads will wear them below it in no time. and putting new pads on the old dished surface is not a good idea, the new flat pads must come up agains a flat rotor surface!
Yes this means front brake jobs are expensive, but, Saab brakes have a decent life span and work great. very rarely do Saab brakes cause pulsations or shimmys. this is because the rotors are being kept true as you drive, because of the wear taking place! I see alot of other manufactures cars come in with rusted and corrodid rotors, cars with pusations, noise and poor stopping ability, and i know that after it gets new rotors the same thing is going to happen again!
