I don't know what those C&D guys are smoking, but the hype exceeded the facts.
The Aero of 2000-2001 has the 10mm lower sport chassis with firmer springs and shocks, the same setup as Aeros from 2002-2005. This chassis or spring shock combo has not been applied to other than the Aero for any year. All 9-5's received front suspension upgrades in 2002 that primarily affected the steering feel and turn in, but not the ride. It's a very subtle difference, not a dramatic change.
The 2004 base car did receive the previous Aero lower bodywork, front spoiler and side sills, except for the rear valance and protruding chrome exhaust tip, because the 2004 Aero got all new restyled front valance with projector beam fog lights, sills and rear valance diffuser, but the "chassis" is still the standard height, not the 10mm lower, stiffer Aero chassis. Also 17" double three spoke alloys (my favorite Saab wheel) were a stand alone option for 2004 Arcs, but even with the 17" sport package, the chassis is unchanged.
