M1 is great oil, so your current routine is fine. You can use the 5W-30 for a minimum of 5k mile intervals w/o getting anywhere close to the limits of the oil. The viscosity & additive advantages of the M1 0W-40 are mostly in the forms of better protection when the engine & turbo are hot, & longer life in all weather & all kinds of driving. M1 5W-40 may be just a bit more durable than 0W-40, & has an even better additive package for Saab turbo engines. 5k miles on either of these two oils would be almost too short!
