Right side drivers wear much sooner that left for 3 reasons.
1) Front power is transmitted through the right side on forward gears. Left side only used in reverse gear. (At least I have been told this.)
2) Exhaust pipe sits beneath right side driver and has a tendancy to heat up the driver on long trips and causes the grease to seep out over time which causes premature wear on the tri-pod bearing and driver. This can be prevented by applying some gasket seal at the base of the cup where it tapers down to the shaft.
3) Boot tears and dirt/grit gets into grease and causes friction wear. This is preventable by periodic inspection of boots and clean/regreasing the tri-pod/inner driver every year.

This is an very easy do-it-yourself (a bit messy) project. Go to Townsend website and Jeff and Royce website for great instructions/pictures on how to do it. Need a 1.25" dia socket ($4.00) and a long piece of pipe to break the axle nut free. Also need a pair cir-clip pliers ($12.00 at any Auto Part store) if you are going to remove axle from spindle and inner driver housing. My local import part store ordered overnight a new inner driver ($100), built up CV axle with boots ($67) and inner driver oil seal (5.00). The CV joint was prelubed and all I had to do was grease the new inner driver with bearing grease. You can do a swap from left side to right side, but be carefull to support the differential because it will drop if both drivers are removed at the same time which causes more work to be done. I recommend just replace the bad driver and clean regrease the left one. It's probably in good condition if the boot is still intact.
