OEM shocks....worn, bump out other components.

I've probably gone through two or three sets of shocks since I bought my 87 900T at 133K six or seven years ago..car has roughly 240K on it today, currently running tokico shocks (KYBs failed hard compression). I've also gone through all ball joints and both front wheel bearings...I think the last left front wheel bearing may have been the second one I put in which makes it the third one on the car! Long and short of it is that if you have a high mileage 87 900T with OEM shocks, it's TIME for new ones! And make sure the alignment is good....bad or worn alignment makes these cars handle worse.

PS...you can only check the ball joints when the upper balljoint is unloaded by putting an inch or so of spacer block (two stacks of washers taped together...don't ask...or a volvo cam sprocket) under the upper a arm when car is jacked up with jacking point at the lower ball joint...lower the car onto a jackstand on the car jack point and the a arm comes down and unloads the balljoint...THEN check for ANY play in the joint.
