need advice re: exhause system repair Posted by mjm [Email] (#872) [Profile/Gallery] (more from mjm) on Fri, 17 May 2002 00:42:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a 92 900s (non turbo) I'm taking from NYC to LA. On the way to Memphis it starts to roar louder that I can bear. Exhause pipe broke between the muffler and the resonator. Found a Saab dealer in Memphis - really nice guys - but no parts. They called the local Meineke and arranged for me to go there.
Meineke guy used a universal muffler to replace mine (the break was right at the joint) and then replaced the over the axle pipe as well. For some reason he also changed the clamp between the exhaust manifold and the catalytic converter with a weld.
Ok, the car sounds fine, but now it seems the floorboard is getting really hot and I can feel heat coming up from the console. Did he put the pipe to close to the body? Is the heat shield failing? Any advice on what to do?
Thanks.
