The wiring harness for everything rear of the engine (including fuel pump) goes directly over the catalytic converter. If your heatshield is not effective, it WILL melt this wiring harness over time. Happened to me, and was a pain to fix (re-soldering 60 wires). A common problem on the old 900s.
