Fan should never me needed on freeway, and not likely to help at those speeds.
Gage starting to rise on freeway usually means eith t-stat is not opening properly, or the rad is krudding up inside. it is NOT a fan related problem.
If it ran at mid green all the time before, then u must have a lower temp fan switch vs stock. Frequent fan run on after shutdown indicates improper fan switch used. so:
1) order new 82C T-stat, bleed sys after install. gage should read about 40% with it cruising and ac off.
if gage still rises on hiway, u need new rad, as many c900s do
2) also order 3 pin 85C fan switch (use 85C pins) .. sobstory.com has these. with healthy rad, fans come on at about 1/2 gage.
