This weekend marks the begining of my replacing my transmission in my '88 900T. I was sucessful in removing the motor/tranny from a '87 900. She will soon be laid to rest, as she was fataly wounded but willing gave up what she could so that another could live on for years to come.

This is my first real project on a Saab. I have found it quite educational, while frustrating, but oddly fulfilling at the same time. I have worked on cars for years now, even at the scale of pulling the motor and rebuilding it, but lord knows a chevy is so much easier to work on(depending on year and model of course).

Anywho to wrap up this long, pointless, meaningless story.. I'm posting here this evening to ask of any who actualy makes it this far.. For someone who is on a tight budget, what else should be seriously looked at while the drivetrain is removed..? I know i have one leak which i am going to try and fix while its out. What else should be inspected? Other common failures for a car about to roll 200k?

In closing I want to thank and raise a toast to all those who post here, offering their time to write down what they know.. The collaboration of minds here is phenominal, and each day we gain more to our ranks, just as we loose a few.. Reguardless, we all live on, loving and taking care of our dearest SAABs.
