Clutch Replacement - Where did I go wrong????

I replaced the pressure plate, clutch disk, and flywheel on an 85 900 8 valve with the same parts from an 86 900 8 valve. The 86 parts had less than 20K on the clutch parts and the disk was in great shape when I checked it out. At any rate when I installed the replacement parts it all seemed to slide in much easier than the assembly I took out. I did not replace the slave cylinder or crack the line so I expected it all to work once I was finished. Silly me. It is all together but I cannot compress the clutch enough to change gears. I have tried bleeding it but it did not change. Where could I have gone wrong????? I assume I will have to redo my installation but I don't understand what could have gone wrong. The parts listed for those years seem to be the same. Any guesses? Could the flywheel be different? This car is an educational tool to me so I don't mind pulling it apart again.
