...in 2000. It's a 1990 SPG, had about 154k on it though I don't have any records of the tranny being rebuilt (though given how it's never given me the slightest trouble, I'm willing to bet somebody did it once). The owner babied it. Car still had a lot of shine in the paint and had no real problems beyond a saggy sunroof. I paid $4000 for it, but then, my family has been buying Saabs from this dealership for 15 years so we got a bit of a break. They would've sold it to someone else for $6500, so they say, and KBB (at the time) put that number in the ballpark.

If you can, take it to a(nother) Saab dealership and have them do a safety inspection, let them find what's wrong. Obviously, be prepared for bad news; it's a 13 year old car, it's *going* to have some problems. If the tranny and inner drivers are in good shape, there's little or no chassis rust, and no head gasket leakage, I'd say you're in fine shape. Everything is else is stuff that is cheaper to replace and would probably have broken sooner or later anyway (again, it's an old car).
