as you turn the wheel it may get hard - easy - hard at 180 degree angles. At least that's how I figured out it was my joint and not the rest of the system. You can also go under the dash behind the pedals where the shaft goes through the firewall. You can pull the large grommet into the car and look right at the joint. I had good luck coating the joint with spray lithium grease then washing it in with brake clean which evaporates leaving the grease on the bearings. Don't laugh, it worked great and hasn't caused a prob since. Make sure you shield the belts and pulleys from the spray. Good Luck.
