A properly installed plug patch should last the life of the tire, if it is just a plug then 95% probably. The way you tell is if the tire was removed from the rim when it was repaired. Usually a poorly installed patch will leak within a couple of days.
That said, If a suspect tire is in question I would prefer it in the front since if you have a failure you will feel it earlier and still maintain control of your car on a FWD car.
