Well, I'm pretty darned sure that the bad component on my '89 900S A/C system is the relay. I've completed all the various electrical checks, etc. (See previous post at: http://www.saabnet.com/tsn/bb/900/index.html?bID=204701), and it all seems to point to the relay.

JimBlake, I checked for the crank signal..it's there. I temporarily wired the relay socket such that compressor and fans run all the time. I couldn't think of much more I could do to check out that ground.

I tried Ari's suggestion of sanding down the relay contacts a bit to remove any grime, etc...no change. Tried wiggling relay around a bit...no change. Felt the relay as I tried to turn A/C on. I felt a slight click, so it's at least trying it seems, but nonetheless not doing its job.

Barring any other insight anyone might have, I guess I'm relay shopping. What's the scoop on these guys? Common failure? Easy to come by? New vs. Used? Standard Bosch component across other car lines, or Saab specific?
