...if you're looking for something you can forget about, maintenance-wise. Basically, I agree with the others. The car you're looking at is NOT a turbo, right? So I think you're safe not worrying about the head gasket unless you see signs now. The same for the electricals; I wouldn't expect problems unless you see them now. (Unless you plan on making changes/additions to the system...?)

The price sounds a little high, but that's partly determined by their popularity in your area & partly by the condition of the particular car you're looking at. In my area the 4dr is more pricey than the 3dr, even though the 3dr hauls as much as a mini-pickup. Does it come with a detailed record of repair history? Can you talk to any of the mechanics who have a history with the car?

I bought my 3dr '90 900(base) 4yrs ago with 113k mi on it for $2700, but within the 1st yr put another $2000-2500 into it. If I only spent what was NECESSARY to keep the car going, it probably would've been about 1/2 that "extra" cost. Plan on having some "extra" expenses, yourself. (Why are you selling YOUR car...?) It IS 12yrs old, after all. My '90 now has 160k on it, & after working thru the previous owner's problems my cost-per-year to maintain it keeps going down. Take it to a good Saab mechanic every 30k major service interval, & keep up regular maintenance in between, & you'll have a blast with it.
