Got today a Saab 900 turbo 16 V for free, had to pay only for the fuel in the tank...
Car is a 1989 example, LHD, manual, 145,000km, three owner from new, faild the MFK (swiss Auto inspection, annually). Driveable.
For:
Service History since new, new exhaust with converter, new typres (winter), tow bar fitted, driveable, no oil leakage, rear wiper.
Against:
Rust on L/H door, wiper arms missing, rear light cluster smashed, Turbo gauge not working, dashboard squeking, dashboard light broken (not all, how to replace the illumination of the dash, heating fan switch), no leather seats, seat heating not working, electric sunroof not working, central lock not working, right mirror motor not working (no correction seen in the mirror, can hear the motor.), windows are scratched, paint is dull (white!), car is painted white!!!, manual (love only the Automatic), AC very noisy, belts are noisy in the engine compartment (replaced them, still noisy), rear bumper is missing. DIRTY inside, headliner sagging.
And most important for me: How can I feel that the Turbo is working? Driving the car with high revs. there's no 'push' forward feelable. Drove never before a Turbo Saab so I can't tell if the Turbo is working. Having only experience with Austin Metro Turbo, very harsh if the Turbo is cutting in, I feel a bit pressed to the back of the seat.
WHat should I do with the car? Spares or repair?
