When you were stationed in Virginia, I bet you had out of state tags on your car...

In Virginia, we have this lovely thing known as the "Personal Property Tax", payment of which is signified by a county issued sticker on your windshield.
This amounts to 3% of the blue book value of your car, payed annualy. (Unless you are military with an out-of-state home of record, and own your car outright). This means that if (god forbid) my 900 dies (or more likely, is killed in traffic) then if I lease a $24,000 vehicle, I'd have to pay the $60 annualy to register the car PLUS about $800 in "personal property tax". The new governor of VA ran on a platform which promised the elimination of the car tax... It's not gone yet...

Oh, and the parking permit (different from the city permit, which is to be affixed to your rear bumper) if for DC "Zone 6", otherwise known as Southeast.
