I have all the parts ordered for my manual transmisson cooler for my '91 900. I am going to use a Mocal Differential cooling pump for the circulation of the tranny fluid. I have a rear tranny plate that I have drilled and tapped 3/8" hose nipples. From there I am running a line to the transmisson cooler (GVW 21,000) mounted behind the grill. Then from the cooler into a screw-on oil filter/mount. Then from the filter to the pump. Then from the pump back into the tranny plate.
Question is: The pump runs off 12volt. I am trying to get some ideas for the wiring of the unit. Initally I was going to wire it so it would always be on when the car is on, but I was then thinking that this would not be needed at all, and would run the pump unneeded (and being a $200 pump and all, I do not want to buy one every month)
The second idea (and what I would like to get wired up) is a way for the pump to turn on when the tranny fluid gets up to a specific temp. I was thinking of maybe some type of wired probe, or in-line temp switch, or relay to turn the pump on when it has gotten up to temp. One reason I was thinking this is because the poor shift quality (1-2) when the tranny is cold (sub 40f's).
Anyone have any ideas??
Thanks guys! TIA...
