I replaced my radiator in my '89 900T last August (at the SOC,no less!) with a new alum. one. It came with the 89 or 92c thermoswitch (can't remember now), but I put in a 82c instead. I also have the 82c termostat. Much better now. (I live in TX where is can also be very hot :-) I want the engine to run as cool as possible...
I've read somewhere (townsend site?) that it's best to run the same temp termoswitch and thermostat. By running a higher thermoswitch the thermostat will open much sooner, circulating the coolant. But this coolant won't get "cooled" by the fan until it reaches 92c. This type of overshoot problem was described on townsends site, I believe..
