Speedometer- can it be?

I've had my 87 16V 900t for about a year, I saved it from an almost certain trip to the great car graveyard. To the point, it's a very happy car and I live in the sleepy midwest and while cruising a nice vacant stretch of highway, I decided to let it run. I turned the cruise off at 75 mph mashed the gas and waited 100, 105, 115, 125 I ran out of numbers when it hit the tripometer reset somewhere aorund 135. I eyeballed the tach at about 4500, boost was still high, tach kept climbing to about 4900, that was when I began trying to remember if I bought speed rated tires last month. So, I decided how ever fast it was it was way too fast. I took my foot off the gas and about 15 seconds later the speedometer finally began dropping. Calculating speed in relation to rpms, I estimated I was somewhere near 150 mph. Now, is my speedometer telling me fish stories or is this car really that fast?
