Have to agree, I think the quality of the paint job has allot to do with who preps and shoots the car. Like I said, I have seen some of the work and it did not look to bad. Maybe allot of the horror stories involve paint on poor bodywork, each shop is different. Someone at an auto upholstery shop had a corvette recently painted at the Chantilly Macco and it came out great. My hood definitely needs to be repainted, that is the primary reason I am looking to get this done. There is oxidation. I got several, initial quotes for $400- 700 just for the hood (other body shops). Yes, I am sure it will be an awesome job, although I take the risk of the color be slightly off, to the point where it is noticeable. The car was painted once before, possibly by a Macco shop. It is a decent job, but not top of the line. I would rather have the entire car shot to make it consistent. I will never be looking to put a high-end job on this car, especially as it gets older. I doubt the car will look any worse then it is now. If I get a high-end job, I will be worrying about every little scratch, scuff, ding.... I am not looking for that. I would rather save money for anticipated maintenance. I know the saying “you get what you pay for” If you were to get a body shop to shoot the car, with minimal prepping, maybe just masking, they would charge about 1200.00. Doing the same thing, MAcco would do for, although they (Macco) would do it for less then half. They paint allot cars, I would rather they do it then someone who just paints on the side, occasional amateur. If I could find a place that would do a “excellent Job” for a grand or less I would do it.
