The pins are a friction fit and get pounded out with a drift to take the pads out. You're correct about the 2 philips screws on the rotors, take them off to release the rotors. Those screws do tend to get pretty corroded, though I've not yet had one bad enough that I needed to drill the head off. If you manage to get them out, replace with torx screws, the heads don't get screwed up as easily as phillips. Also use antiseize on 'em.
